Ryder Davis Takes the Win after a Rough Start to the MotoAmerica Mini Cup Competition at Pittsburgh.
Ryder Davis qualified P1 and was off to what he thought was a great start to his upcoming weekend, with four races scheduled at his home track in Pittsburgh. "I felt good going into the weekend. I won both races last year, and I've been training daily," said Davis, 14, of Pittsburgh, PA. "I was leading the first race and made a mistake. I hit a tear off on the track and tucked the front. I was able to recover and finish in second place."
In race 2, Davis had an incident with another rider, resulting in a DNF. He was evaluated and cleared to participate in race 3. "I had a ton of pain, but I knew I had to compete in the last two races to maintain my points lead for the championship," said Davis.
"My shifter broke in race 3, and I could do nothing. I had to finish the race in 4th gear. I was 2 seconds off the race leaders. I was discouraged and didn't think I could participate in the last race."
The team fixed the bike, and the Alpha Omega rider ended the weekend with the holeshot in race four and brought home the win.
Davis was able to maintain his points lead in both the FIM Mini Cup and the Mission MotoAmerica Mini Cup presented By Motel series championships heading into the last round at New Jersey Motorsports Park 9/22-9/23.
